Disney Parks have consistently raised the bar for fantastic theme park attractions. Whether it’s the classic dark rides that still hold up today or groundbreaking new attractions, Disney is still the standard bearer.

A New Award

It should also come as no surprise that Disney has received many awards over the years for its unique shows, engineering feats, and exciting experiences.

“On behalf of all Imagineers, I would like to thank TEA for this tremendous recognition of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and for continuing to drive the theme entertainment industry forward,” Walt Disney Imagineering President said.

The vastly popular indoor roller coaster themed to the MCU was recognized for outstanding achievement in the attraction category. Following the characters from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, such as Peter Quill (AKA Star-Lord), Rocket, Gamora, Drax, and Groot, it takes guests on a high-speed roller coaster set to music.

It replaces the former Universe of Energy building and attraction and replaces it with a Xandar pavilion. As always, things don’t go as planned, and Walt Disney World Resort guests are recruited to help save the galaxy.

In addition to being the first Disney park roller coaster to feature a reverse launch, the ride has six unique soundtracks, providing a different experience when enjoyed multiple times.

About Steven

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
