The Walt Disney Company has been having a difficult time lately with Walt Disney World in the Sunshine State with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the CFTOD board, California is making good on its promise to work with the company.
It’s been a long few years when it comes to fixing their relationship with sunny Florida for Disney. Since the “Don’t Say Gay” bill soured the previously mutually beneficial relationship that Disney enjoyed with the Sunshine State, Walt Disney World has been embroiled in a bitter battle with the state’s governor and his newly formed CFTOD board.
However, in the midst of this trouble, it appears one state is willing to put its money where its mouth is when it comes to acknowledging how important Disney is to them: California.
Anaheim Pushes DisneylandForward Ahead
In recent news and what is a big win for the Walt Disney Company, late on Monday night, the Anaheim Planning Commission voted to approve the DisneylandForward project proposal, allowing it to move forward to Anaheim’s City Council.
The City Council is expected to vote on the project on April 16.
“Together we are unequivocally making history, just like Walt Disney did almost 70 years ago with the city of Anaheim and Disneyland,” Ken Potrock, president of the Disneyland Resort, said at the meeting before the vote, according to the Los Angeles Times. “It’s a tremendous responsibility for all of us and a privilege to be a steward of this vision for this very, very special place.”

This push forward will certainly make Disney much more favorable to continuing to build its relationship with California. If the DisneylandForward project does get approved, then Disney’s Southern California Anaheim resort will have the chance to rework its theme park zoning restrictions.
If this expansion project gets approved, Disneyland commits to “create new jobs and revenues for our community as well as new immersive entertainment and experiences for loyal fans and new audiences for generations to come.”
It will be incredibly interesting to see how this project continues to play out and what is on the cards for Disney with this project.
