Disneyland Increases Genie+ Price for Guests

Disney Fanatics and Disney Guests have been complaining a lot about many things when it comes to their customer experience at Disney Parks and Disney Resorts. Whether it’s been Disney Guests’ bad behavior, rigged merchandise sellouts, or ride malfunctions, the Disney discontent seems to be outpacing the Disney magic — and now, one of Disney Guests’ biggest gripes with their Disney experience is rearing its head again: price increases!

The new Disney service called Genie+ is an add-on to the Genie service and Individual Lightning Lane service that Guests have to pay for in addition to those two already-included services during their visits to Disney Parks (although some Guests are allegedly using the Disability Access Services system to circumvent this extra cost during their Disney experience).

The Disney Genie+ service alienated many Disney Guests, since a lot of Disney fans loved the previous service called Fastpass and the new service had a lot of glitches and problems to work through shortly after its release. However, according to a Disney chairman named Josh D’Amaro, the Disney Genie+ service is doing “phenomenally well” despite Guests’ complaints, and people keep buying the extra service. However, that may change since the price has just gone up!

The Disneyland website now says that the Disney Genie+ service costs $25.00 per ticket, per day! The prices can apparently vary by date; this current price is a $5 increase from the previous $20 per day, per ticket cost.

The Disneyland website explains the Disney Genie+ service as follows: “When you take your day to the next level by purchasing Disney Genie+ service, you can select the next available arrival window for Lightning Lane entrances at select attractions, one at a time, all day long. There are a variety of attractions across both theme parks that are eligible, which is great for Guests with Park Hopper Tickets!”

The Disneyland site also says the following about the Individual Lightning Lane service, which you do not need to pay $25 per ticket per day for: “For some of our most highly demanded attractions, Lightning Lane entrance access will be available to purchase individually. Guests may purchase and select the next available arrival window for up to 2 attractions per day. This option will be available for all Guests with valid theme park admission and park reservations—with or without Disney Genie+ service.”

Do you find this price increase to be offputting? Do you think it is an ominous sign that Disney is continuing to increase its prices — and, in some cases, strive for a more high-end, luxurious experience for its Guests in the Parks?
