According to the Disney Parks Blog, a whole new series of Marvel attractions and offerings are coming to the Avengers Campus in Disneyland Resort — even though many Marvel fans are planning on boycotting the same movie that these new offerings are meant to celebrate!
On November 11, Disneyland’s celebration of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be opening and preparing to entertain Disneyland Guests until January 8 of next year.
This series of attractions and bonuses will include props from the new Marvel film (such as Shuri’s gauntlet), the introduction of the in-Park performer portraying the fearsome character named M’Baku (who will be leading visitors through “The Way of the Jabari,” which is apparently “an all-new experience that will share some of the culture of the Jabari Clan through chants and percussion”), Wakanda-inspired delicacies to eat, and exclusive areas like a Black Panther Celebration Garden where visitors can “relax and reflect on the legendary protectors of the Kingdom of Wakanda.”
The new movie and these new experiences will be arriving after the trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was met with many negative responses from Marvel Studios enthusiasts and T’Challa fans. T’Challa was the king of Wakanda and an ally of Avengers like Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor; he was portrayed by actor Chadwick Boseman until the actor’s unexpected death from colon cancer. Because the late actor had kept his illness a secret from many people, his death shocked audiences.
However, many Marvel fans disputed Marvel’s decision to kill T’Challa in the new movie. Instead, they had hoped that a new actor would take on the role as a new Black Panther. Fans also cast doubts on the validity of Chadwick Boseman’s posthumous Emmy win, claiming that his death was the only reason for the award.
Since this new series of foods, exhibits, and experiences are coming to Disneyland just as the new Black Panther sequel is coming to theaters — and just as many Black Panther and Chadwick Boseman fans have announced their plans to boycott the new film as a form of protesting Marvel Studios’ decision to kill off the Chadwick Boseman version of T’Challa instead of casting a new actor into the role — it will be interesting to see how Marvel fans react to the offerings on their next Disneyland visits!
The new Marvel movie is premiering on October 26, with a live-streamed view of the red carpet premiere being shared on the Marvel website at 8:15 pm Eastern Standard Time that night (as indicated in the Tweet shown below).

Even if you are a Marvel fan who has taken issue with the new Black Panther sequel and the fate of T’Challa in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you may still find yourself too tempted by the treats in the Wakanda exhibit at Disneyland to resist trying them! Highlights will include Peri Peri Chicken (which includes “yellow Jollof rice”) and Maafe (which is “a ground peanut stew with sweet potatoes, tomatoes, black-eyed peas and spices, served with naan”).
There will also be alcohol in the form of a drink called the Dawa beverage, which includes vodka, lemonade, honey, ginger beer, and an ingredient called “butterfly pea tea”. There will also be a Wakandan Roasted Pork Wrap option in the Shawarma Palace locations that can be found in Avengers Campus.
Are you tempted to visit Disneyland Resort and Avengers Campus (and Disney California Adventure) to try out these new Jabari Clan and Wakanda experiences, even if you’re not happy about the direction that Marvel has taken with the upcoming sequel?
