Tens of thousands of people visit a Disney theme park every day, so it goes without saying that Disney’s rides and attractions experience a lot of wear and tear. And the more complicated the attraction, the more Disney cast members and crews have to keep an eye on them. The same can also be said for the older attractions as well. Older attractions use older parts and may not always function at their peak because of their age.
For almost fifty years, one of the most beloved attractions at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, has been Space Mountain. Space Mountain can be found in Tomorrowland and takes guests on a thrilling “roller coaster-type ride” through the darkness of space.
The attraction is so popular that there are other versions of the ride at Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disney. And to keep things interesting, each version is a little different. Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris has a loop. At Hong Kong Disney, the ride has permanently become Hyperspace Mountain (a Star Wars version). Over in Disney World, there are two different tracks guests can take.
Guests who visit Disneyland or Disney World often and ride Space Mountain will know it is almost a rite of passage to see the ride with the lights on. Breakdowns are pretty common on the attraction, but Disney cast members work very hard and diligently to get the ride up and running as soon as possible. If it’s a more complicated breakdown, guests need to be evacuated.
When it comes to being evacuated, guests are told to remain in their seats until a cast member gives them instructions and helps them get out of the ride vehicle. However, that didn’t seem to be good enough for one family.
TikToker Heart & Saul Travel posted a video of a family climbing out of the ride vehicle during a breakdown. There were no cast members to assist, with the family blatantly ignoring Disney’s rules.
First, the reported father of the group wriggles out from behind his safety bar and climbs out onto the track. Then he helps his wife out. Finally, he lifts a young girl out of the rocket.

Commenters were shocked at the blatant disregard and disrespect for Disney’s rules and its cast members. Many commented that the family should be banned from the parks for life. Should Disney find out who the family is, there is a chance that they could decide to ban them. Disney has stringent rules in place when it comes to guest behavior. Guests who put themselves, cast members, or other guests, in danger do risk getting a trespass notice.
If you are visiting Disney and the attraction you are riding breaks down, it is important to remain in your ride vehicle. Cast members will get to you as quickly as possible and help you out of the vehicle. They will then escort you to a designated area, where you will either be escorted to an exit or back to the boarding area.
