Fans shared their concern that Matthew Perry’s final social media posts foreshadowed his tragic and untimely death.
The world lost a star on October 28, 2023. The incredibly popular sitcom Friends star Matthew Perry passed away at the age of 54 in Los Angeles, California. TMZ reported that police were called to a Los Angeles area home with reports of a cardiac issue. When they arrived, they found Perry unconscious in a jacuzzi tub.
Per the news, Perry’s assistant found him in the tub and called 911; Perry is said to have died of an apparent drowning.

Matthew Perry, i.e., Matthew Langford Perry, was an American and Canadian actor. He’s one of the most popular and beloved TV actors of this age. Perry starred as Chandler Bing on the NBC television sitcom Friends from 1994 to 2004; he also appeared on Ally McBeal and received Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his roles in The West Wing and The Ron Clark Story.
Perry was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1969. His acting career began when he was just 10 years old when he appeared on an episode of 240-Robert. He continued to work in the industry after and finally got his big break with Friends in 1994, featuring alongside Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlac, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer.

Fans Mourn Matthew Perry’s Passing
Needless to say, considering how beloved Perry was, fans are devastated at his passing. Many have taken to commenting on the late actor’s social media posts honoring his memory and sharing their condolences.
One shared, “Rest Easy. Taken far too soon, thank you for all the laughs and joy you’ve brought to us all. The world will be a little less bright without you in it 🕊.”
Another agreed, “Soar with the angels and stars…and thanks for all the laughs. ❤️”
What has also emerged out of this sentiment online, however, is some fans worrying that Perry was sharing signs that something was wrong in some of his final Instagram posts.

Fans Question the Motivation of Perry’s Posts
Perry shared two posts in the days leading up to this death that made fans want to check in on the actor.
In the first post shared six days ago, Perry shared a video of the moon, captioning the video, “Do you understand what I’m trying to tell you? – I’m Mattman.”
In the second post, also shared six days ago, he adds, “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.”
Fans were quickly worried by the strange tone of the comments even then.

One said, “ok at home Mattman?”
Another noted, “somebody take his phone away”, positing that the late actor was not well.
A third expressed the same sentiment, stating, “Sure. We’re all “Mattman”, sweetie. Let’s get you to bed.”
However, after his death, the tone of the comments decidedly changed, out of respect, of course, but also out of concern. One fan commented on the first post, “I wish we did, I have [a] horrible feeling about all this 😢,” implying they feel there is more to the situation than we know.

What Do We Know of Matthew Perry’s Passing?
What has fans worried is the knowledge that Perry struggled with drug addiction and alcohol addiction. He had been to rehab a few times over the years, though he had shared that he’d been sober since 2021. This said, it’s important to note as of this moment, this is what we do know about his passing.
Perry’s death was confirmed by Captain Scot Williams of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide division. Williams said the cause of death was not likely to be determined for some time but did specify there was no indication of foul play.
