The Walt Disney Company is on the receiving end of much criticism fairly frequently, and in light of the recent news we’ve received about the layoffs and the reorganization of the company, one journalist shared that many of these developments were unsurprising and that the entertainment giant is due to see its end soon due to Disney’s unsustainable business practices.

NY Post columnist Karol Markowicz criticized the Walt Disney Company, on her latest visit to the Walt Disney World Resort in Central Florida, for its constant attempt to placate who she terms “the woke critics,” referring to the company’s new disclaimer that now preceeds many Disney classics, including Aladdin, Dumbo, and Peter Pan:

“This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together.”

Per Markowicz, this constant attempt to placate woke critics played into unsustainable business practices from Disney. She adds, “It’s not a coincidence that while the failing streaming service tries to be ever more woke, the parks have somewhat resisted it.” Markowicz is referring to the constant losses Disney has seen through its streaming service and with Disney+, but by contrast, the Disney Parks saw a 21% increase in revenue this past quarter.

The criticism Markowicz levies at Disney also falls in line with much criticism from some Disney fans about Disney’s response to Splash Mountian and Song of the South. Fans have been divided in their opinions on whether Disney handled it well or whether the company should have treated the situation differently.

But along with this Marcowicz also brings up some universal, less debated issues she noticed at the Disney Parks. She called out the ride breakdowns and rampant malfunctions in Disney Parks, per the latest reports.

In an article that she opened by stating she and her family were barring Disney from their lives, Markowicz concluded, “The trust has been broken again and again.”
