Bad news, Johnny Depp fans; if you love the American and somewhat controversial actor‘s character Captain Jack Sparrow, and you’re about to enjoy a Disney vacation at a certain Disney Resort, then you’re going to be out of luck when it comes to experiencing the Pirates of the Caribbean ride!
Apparently, the Tokyo Disney Resort version of the popular Pirates of the Caribbean ride has closed for the rest of 2022 — and it will not reopen until April of next year (specifically, April 7, 2023).
Many popular Disney rides — and rides that are considered to be classics, like this one — have been closed due to refurbishments or renovations, while others (such as the beloved ride Splash Mountain) are about to be closed on a more permanent basis.
Since so many Disney rides have been closing unexpectedly, or breaking down, Disney Guests have gotten more and more uncertain about whether or not they are going to be able to enjoy specific Disney rides during their Disney Resort and Disney Park vacations.
The Matterhorn Bobsleds recently gave Disneyland Guests a scare, since they were closed for a while with no guaranteed reopening date, while rides like Ratatouille: The Adventure and the Big Thunder Mountain roller coaster (not to mention this relaxing Magic Kingdom staple) have also had recent closures.
The Pirates of the Caribbean characters have been the talk of the town lately due to the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial, Johnny Depp’s refusal to return as Captain Jack Sparrow despite the potential for a huge payday, and the upcoming sixth Pirates film. Are you a fan of the classic ride, no matter which Disney Resort you ride it in and which Disney vacation you’re on — or has this classic Disney ride gotten boring in your eyes?
