These Three Disney Legends Are Arguably the ‘Coolest’ New Inductees

Frozen Legends title

At today’s D23 Disney Legend Awards we got to see many new inductees being named as Disney Legends for the 2022 year. In all, 14 new members now join the extensive lineup of this most honored Disney designation.

From famed entertainers and celebrities to innovative Imagineers, Disney Cast Members, and other individuals who have made their mark on Disney history, the induction of Disney Legends has been a tradition spanning more than three decades now.

Today’s newest Legend lineup included the following notable names:  Anthony Anderson, Kristen Bell, Chadwick Boseman, Rob’t Coltrin, Patrick Dempsey, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff, Idina Menzel, Robert Price “Bob” Foster, Don Hahn, Doris Hardoon, Chris Montan, Ellen Pompeo, and Tracee Ellis Ross. While all the aforementioned have worked hard to get to where they are today, we can’t help but notice that on the celebrity side of things, three new members of the gang seem to be arguably more worthy of such a Disney-based honor. And coincidentally enough, they all just happen to have starring roles in Disney’s largely popular Frozen franchise. We are, of course, referring to Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Idina Menzel.

It’s not surprising that Kristen Bell would be named as a Disney Legend. Not only did she provide the voice of the warm-hearted Princess Anna of Disney’s Frozen, but she also appeared in Disney’s animated hit Zootopia (2016) as Pricilla the sloth at the DMV. Her major success as Anna though, has resulted in her continued appearances in other Disney works and projects that call for such voice provisions.

Josh Gad is another inductee we already anticipated. Giving voice and personality to Olaf, who is perhaps the most favored snowman since Frosty, Gad’s Disney connections also extend to the fact that he portrayed Le Fou in the live-action version of the 2017 adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. On another interesting note, he also revealed in his Legends Award speech that he previously applied for Cast Member job as a Jungle Cruise Skipper for Walt Disney World Resort when he was 18 but was rejected.

Then there is Idina Menzel, who stars as none other than Elsa in Frozen. But she also has other Disney credits to her name. For instance, she played the role of Nancy Tremaine in Disney’s live-action/animated film Enchanted back in 2007, and it has been revealed that she will be reprising her role in the upcoming sequel. Another lesser role she took on with Disney included voicing Circe in the Hercules: The Animated Series episode “Hercules and the Song of Circe”.

While we are happy for all those who were named Disney Legends today, many wonder about the worthiness of some of this year’s recipients. It also draws into question why so many other, arguably more worthy people connected to Walt Disney Entertainment remain without such honors. All the same, as far as this year’s lineup goes, these three definitely have firmer foundations in place for being named Disney Legends than others.
