You Can Meet Marvel’s “Eternals” Characters in Augmented Reality

If you’ve already been excited by Walt Disney World’s new augmented reality lenses for Disney Park Guests or the incredible Marvel hologram restaurant aboard the Disney Wish, and if you’re eager to see Marvel Studio’s Eternals when it premieres in theaters on November 5th, then you’ll definitely want to check out the futuristic offering that has just been added to iOS. By using the new Eternals: AR Story Experience app (which is free!) you can quite literally see and meet the Eternals characters ‘in person’! Marvel Entertainment shared the new offering via the Tweet below.

Disney fans and Marvel fans were already intrigued by the new Eternals movie’s premise: its immortal characters, which are called the Celestials (and played by Hollywood A-listers including Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, and Gemma Chan), promise to bring a whole new level of sweeping scope and, interestingly, emotional intimacy to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In that same Marvel Cinematic Universe, blockbuster fights and epic superhero landings are usually the most common. But in Eternals, audiences can expect characters and storylines that stay epic enough for Marvel, but add a more down-to-earth kind of heart. If that makes you even more interested in exploring the characters starring in Eternals, then check out the trailer for the new app below!

In the app, you’ll get to interact with the characters and explore their world, as well as the plot of the new movie. According to, this is a “mini prequel [that] lets you explore the story like never before and become a part of the action”. Sprite, who is one of the Celestials and Eternals, leads you “on an epic Augmented Reality adventure through time and space to discover the truth about humanity”. You’ll be able to “enter the world, learn the backstory, and meet the characters, in Marvel Studios’ first Immersive Story Experience.” Judging by the trailer, it looks like the animation will be relatively impressive, and it also looks like all of the Eternals characters are included! One of the best things about AR is that it will also allow you to move your iPhone around and see lots of new, beautiful imagery or action scenes wherever you’re aiming the iPhone. The more you investigate each and every inch of the space, the more you’re going to see! It also seems like this AR experience–which essentially seems like a virtual reality video game–is going to have a surprising amount of depth. Instead of just being a few simple formulaic scenes with the characters, there will be quite a lot of Marvel-style fun to experience! This app is only available on iOS for now, making it unavailable for Android users.
