Disney Fans Lash Out After Seeing Controversial “Greatest” Song Rankings

Billboard has released an updated version of its “Greatest of All Time Disney Songs Chart,” and many Disney fans will probably not be happy!

The Billboard song chart lists do often change, adjusting to suit what listeners are actually listening to the most, but one of Billboard’s most recent new lists –featuring 100 of Disney’s “greatest” songs — has Disney fans seething.

High School Musical and Hannah Montana?

TikTok user @cinema.joe shared the list in the TikTok video shown below, and there are certainly some surprising choices on it (such as the Soarin’ Over California ride’s theme song and a song from the 2018 movie Ralph Breaks the Internet)!

The top 10 songs included the High School Musical song called “Breaking Free,” the Hannah Montana: The Movie song called “The Climb,”  “The Mickey Mouse March,” “It’s a Small World (After All),” and “A Spoonful of Sugar.”

Even though the top two songs were “Part Of Your World” and “Let It Go,” TikTok user @cinema.joe declared that songs from Mulan (1998), The Lion King (1994), Tarzan (1999), and Hercules (1997) all deserved better — and many other Disney fans agreed with the movie enthusiast!

“Whoever made this list needs to be fired IMMEDIATELY,” one angry TikTok user wrote. Another TikTok user commented that Billboard’s decision-makers “really decided to choose chaos.”

Sorry, Tarzan and Mulan

The “Phil Collins Tarzan erasure” and the neglect of MulanHercules, Pocahontas (1995), and The Lion King were particularly prevalent in the eyes of Disney Fanatics.

The fact that Tangled (2010) only appeared on the list in the form of one song (“When Will My Life Begin?”) only further fueled Disney fans’ rage.

One consolation prize for these disgruntled fans, however, was the presence of two Goofy Movie songs (“I 2 I” and “Stand Out”) on the Greatest Disney Songs list.

We Don’t Talk About Bruno — But We Do Sing About Him

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” made it to number 12 on the list, drastically beating songs like “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” and “You’ll Be In My Heart” (which was the only Tarzan song on the list).

This Encanto song even came close to beating “Circle of Life”!

Are you happy with these rankings, or do you disagree with Billboard about the “greatest Disney songs of all time”?
