As if Disney’s Snow White actress Rachel Zegler did not have enough on her plate after the backlash she faced for her comments about the Disney live-action remake, she has been replaced and recast in another movie.

Disney’s live-action remakes are controversial all by themselves. Fans have been frustrated with the Mouse House for a long time now for a variety of reasons. When it comes to Disney’s movies and TV shows, the company hasn’t been able to impress its audience in a while. Many feel that the Walt Disney Company has been making too many “safe bets” and hasn’t been delivering high-quality original storytelling.

Recently, however, Disney’s Snow White remake, set to release in 2024, has made headlines for its leading lady, Rachel Zegler, who has rubbed many people the wrong way.

Rachel Zegler Gets Recast in Upcoming Movie

For the last few months, old videos of Rachel Zegler talking about the movie resurfaced, and Disney fans called out the actress for her unthinking remarks about the character and the movie. Of course, Zegler did apologize for her comments, but the damage has been done, and now many are questioning whether Snow White will do well at all.

Now, Zegler has reportedly been removed from the upcoming movie Paddington 3 due to the strikes, and she will be recast, as shared by The Hollywood Handle.

The movie, produced by StudioCanal and Heyday Films, is titled Paddington in Peru and has continued filming in the UK without Zegler as part of the cast, leading many to believe she will be recast from the film. Zegler was initially supposed to play Gina Cabot.

It’s important to clarify: while many have taken the news to mean that Rachel Zegler has been cut from the upcoming Snow White film, this is not the case. Regardless of the controversy that surrounded her this summer, for now, Disney has stood by Zegler.

This said, many—Disney fans or otherwise—were not upset in the least to see the actress leaving Paddington in Peru.  One shared a succinct, “We won.”

Another added, speaking up against “haters,” “I know u haters felt a little spark of joy when u saw this but sorry to disappoint. She was not recast cuz twitter was crying, she was recast because the actors are on strike and this is a UK production that started filming in July, they just couldn’t wait for her any longer.”

Others disagreed and expressed, “If they wanted her they would have kept her. This has nothing to do with strikes.”

There has been no official word on why she was recast. This said, we at Disney Fanatic hope things start looking up for the actress!
