Seeing fireworks at Walt Disney World Resort hits differently when on the water. One family recently got to experience this firsthand, and they didn’t have to pay for it. Disney is all about creating magical experiences for its Guests, but normally those moments come with steep price tags. However, you might get lucky if you are at the right place at the right time. These Guests had no idea that a generous EPCOT boat captain would give them the night of their lives!

Speciality EPCOT Fireworks Cruise

Disney World offers the chance to charter a unique private watercraft that takes you out on the lake for a fun night. These cruises provide a perfect opportunity to watch the EPCOT Forever or Happily Ever After world-class fireworks in EPCOT and Magic Kingdom. Disney describes the experience as comfortable, with up to ten Guests enjoying a 25-foot boat decorated with festive banners and balloons. You also get assorted snacks and soft drinks.

EPCOT isn’t the only place to get this experience. Guests can also choose to sail on the Seven Seas Lagoon to witness the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. This option can leave from the Contemporary Resort or other locations nearby.

However, what really makes the experience special is a personal boat captain that acts as a guide for the night. These Cast Members know their roles, as one family found out. Normally, this experience would cost you at least $399 plus tax. These Guests, on the other hand, got to do the entire night for free!

Light Up the Night

While walking past the Yacht Club docks outside of EPCOT’s World Showcase Lagoon, a family was given an unexpected surprise. A boat captain approached them and offered a free specialty EPCOTS fireworks cruise. The Guests obviously jumped at the chance and experienced a perfect night full of magic!

“He took us down around Hollywood Studios, then to check out the Boardwalk area and finally to EPCOT Lagoon to watch the show,” the Guest detailed on the /WaltDisneyWorld subreddit. “I’m still in disbelief that this happened, and it will absolutely be a highlight of all our trips over the years. Feeling pretty grateful.”

Magical Envy

People responded with envy towards the luck of this family being in the right place at the right time. They speculate that the boat captain must have had a last-minute cancellation, meaning it was ready to go but had no one to entertain. The Guest explained that another nearby family was invited to go with them, and they all enjoyed the Pixie Dust together.

One responder mentioned that the same thing happened to them and a friend at the same spot. This lends weight to the theory that Disney might allow the boat captains to provide magical moments to those passing by during a lucky cancellation.

A lot of the comments said it is moments like this that keep them going back to Walt Disney World. The theme park can provide escapes and moments that last a lifetime; even the rising costs and crowds can’t change it.
