GoFundMe
Oftentimes, people are trying to raise money for unaffordable goods or services such as medical bills or a college education. However, people have also used it to raise money for vacations or special celebrations.
Since its creation in 2013, it has helped thousands raise over $9 billion for various reasons.

Unlike investing money, donations you make, you will not get back. It is simply a tool that helps people raise funds for personal reasons.
Alyssa Milano Asks For Donations
Enter former Disney actress Charmed star Alyssa Milano. She is now undergoing extreme backlash online over using the GoFundMe platform to help pay for expenses related to her son’s baseball trip.
Milano’s 12-year-old son is on a baseball team planning to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. While there, his team will be competing in a baseball tournament.

The trip will cost about $10,000.
Many people have taken issue with the request for donations from a millionaire actress married to a Hollywood agent, who…is also a millionaire.

The Online Backlash
The account is set up under Milano’s married name and the response online has been harsh. People are shocked that someone who is so well-off would be asking strangers for a handout when she and her husband (David Bugliari) could have funded the entire $10,000 themselves.

But defenders of Milano point out that just because she and her family have money, doesn’t mean that they are required to pay for everyone on the baseball team. The $10,000 apparently includes travel expenses and uniforms for the entire team (not just her child).
Despite the backlash, Milano defended the GoFundMe post by explaining she had already contributed greatly to the baseball team, including covering the costs of her son’s team members.
I’m getting media inquiries about whether I have financially contributed to my son’s baseball team.
I’ve paid for uniforms for the entire team and coaches, thrown bday parties and sponsor any kid who can’t afford monthly dues.

However, other’s have pushed back on her…pushing back. Again, pointing out her success on television shows such as Charmed and Who’s The Boss? which have netted the actress millions.

In addition to those more popular roles, she has also worked under Disney projects for decades. She voiced Angel in the animated movie Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure (2001) and portrayed Scarlett Rosetti in the Disney animated series Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil.Â
The actress has also made appearances on Castle and Grey’s Anatomy.
At the time of publication, Milano’s GoFundMe travel fund has reached over $11,100.
