No studio (except Disney) generates the same heart and warmth as Pixar. From Toy Story (1995) to their latest additions, they have always tried to improve the craft of animation and storytelling. Perhaps this is why Disney Parks has decided to retheme its Paradise Pier Hotel at Disneyland Resort to Pixar Place Hotel.

The Pixar Place Hotel

Earlier this year, Disney released new concept art and plans for the hotel in Anaheim. Located just outside the Downtown Disney area, the Paradise Pier (soon to be Pixar Pier) hotel is one of three Disney-owned places to stay outside the park.

The reimagined hotel will display Pixar touches sprinkled throughout. At 15 stories high, this high-rise hotel offers enchanting Disney California Adventure Park views.

The Room Tour

Disney Parks has released a video tour of one of the new rooms to generate excitement among Disney fans and local residents.

Focused on a tour operated by toy soldiers from Toy Story, four army men explore the room. There are many references to the original film, where the army men explore Andy’s birthday.

It shows two beds, a Pixar mural across the back wall, and a clean, modern bathroom with a large walk-in shower.

Pixar-themed touches can be spotted throughout the room in the video including a Luxo-inspired lamp, star-themed pillow, and the Pixar ball.

Other Hotel Details

The hotel official becomes The Pixar Pier hotel on January 30 2024. Although not shown in the video, original concept art displayed a newly themed lobby and pool area.

The lobby was planned to have the Pixar lamp playfully balancing atop the iconic ball. In addition, a colorful mobile, inspired by Pixar characters, will adorn the lobby atrium.

The new outdoor play area will be inspired by the Finding Nemo (2003) and Finding Dory (2016) movies. Guests can witness Crush perched atop a thrilling 186-foot-long waterslide while Hank the octopus hangs out at the splash pad.

A family play court will also be introduced. It will include interactive activities inspired by Pixar shorts. Celebrating special characters from “La Luna,” “Bao,” “For the Birds,” and “Burrow,” this area invites imaginative free play and engaging interactive games for families of all ages.

The Great Maple restaurant also recently opened at the newly themed hotel. It’s a modern American eatery available for three meals a day.

Although we are still almost two months out from the official change in theme, guests can still stay on property and visit its dining locations. But any Disney and/or Pixar fan should be planning to visit in 2024!

About Steven

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
