Since 1975, Guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort have been able to head outside the Parks and enjoy shopping and dining in the area now known as Disney Springs. The area was first called The Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village. It was immediately popular, and Disney continued expanding and developing the area. In 1995, it officially became known as Downtown Disney, and it remained that way for nearly two decades. In 2013, Disney announced that Downtown Disney would be undergoing a massive overhaul and expansion. Three years later, Downtown Disney officially became Disney Springs.

Disney Springs is divided into four areas — The Landing, Marketplace, West Side, and Town Center. There are more than 100 shopping locations and 65 restaurants in the sprawling location. Guests can shop to their Disney heart’s content at places like World of Disney, The Art of Disney, the Coca-Cola Store, Crystal Arts by Arribas Brothers, Disney’s Candy Cauldron, and so much more.

There are also a ton of delicious dining options, like Wine Bar George, The Edison, Raglan Road, The Polite Pig, Amorette’s Pâtisserie, and the incredibly popular Gideon’s Bakehouse.

While a lot of people love to venture to Disney Springs to shop and dine, one Florida man was recently arrested for going there to steal. According to a recently released report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Marcus Casida was arrested for stealing hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from multiple locations.

On February 17, Casida was arrested after being spotted by a loss prevention officer taking clothes from the store Uniqlo. The loss prevention officer noted that Casida would take clothes, put them in a mesh shopping bag, take the elevator to the second floor, and then hide the clothes in his backpack. The report states that Casida left the store without paying for the clothes, which were valued at over $300.

When police arrested the Orange County man, they found multiple diver’s licenses belonging to other people, alongside numerous cell phones. They also found someone else’s credit card and social security paperwork for yet another individual. Casida — who is homeless — also had a set of lock-picking tools.

The arrest report stated that Casida also had a toy Coco guitar — which was still in the box — along with a Disney book that they determined were both stolen from World of Disney. The man was also wearing a Harley-Davidson leather hat that had been stolen from the Harley-Davidson store.

Police arrested Casida at the scene and took him to jail. Walt Disney World Security also banned him from Walt Disney World Resort property. This is not the first time Casida has been arrested. He has a long rap sheet. That could result in an extended sentence should he be found guilty of these charges. No attorney for Casida was listed in the report.
