The Eras Tour by Taylor Swift

Her most recent crowning glory is The Eras Tour—a tour that covers all her eras thus far, including music from her debut album all the way through her most recent album, Midnights. The tour is over three hours long and is split into ten sections, each accounting for one era.

While she has been on tour, Swift has also continued releasing the recordings of her old albums, with 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) coming out on October 27, 2023, and July 7, 2023, respectively.

Fans have been thrilled with being treated to these re-recordings because they’re always accompanied by “From the Vault” tracks—songs Swift wrote for various albums that weren’t released originally but were added to the tracklist now.

For fans who could make the Eras Tour concert but still want to watch and enjoy the musical experience, they can do it on Disney+ which has exclusive rights to streaming the record-breaking event.

In fact, Disney CEO Bob Iger even made the announcement of the arrival of the Eras Tour movie to Disney+ during the Walt Disney Company’s latest earnings call. How Much Did Disney Invest to Buy the Exclusive Rights to The Eras Tour?

This said, Taylor Swift is a smart business woman, and she makes smart financial decisions when it comes to her work. So let’s address the elephant in the room: how much did Disney pay to buy the exclusive rights to this movie?

According to reports, Disney paid $75 million for the Eras Tour concert film. Disney+ won the rights to the documentary after what was agreed upon to be a particularly tough bidding war.

It’s not a small amount of money, and Disney CEO Bob Iger must believe this investment will be worth it to even consider this in Disney’s current predicament. Of course, considering the theatrical release was immensely successful—Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour earned $261.7 million at the global box office after its October 13 debut, and is the highest-grossing concert film to date—this makes complete sense.
