Fans of the 2014 Disney fairy tale adventure film Enchanted and its charming princess protagonist Giselle (played by actress Amy Adams) have been eagerly waiting for the film’s sequel to be made — even though it has taken over 13 years. The sequel Disenchanted has made slow progress, but now the movie has finally passed muster and D23 has confirmed the film’s release date!
Disenchanted faced many delays over the years, but finally got started with filming in Ireland before reshoots in New York City (which were put into motion after initial test audiences gave the movie some negative feedback). Now, it looks like this sequel is finally back on track!
Patrick Dempsey is back in the movie as Robert Philip, Giselle’s new husband, while Gabriella Baldacchino is playing his daughter Morgan (who was originally played by actress Rachel Covey, who is no longer young enough for the role). James Marsden and Idina Menzel are also returning for their respective roles.
Saturday Night Live actor and comedian Maya Rudolph is taking on the role of the movie’s Disney villain for this Enchanted sequel, and a teaser image of her character and Giselle has just been released to accompany the movie’s release date! Check it out below!

Enchanted fans had only seen the Susan Sarandon villain from the first Enchanted movie and heard Amy Adam’s glowing review of Maya Rudolph’s performance as this new villain, so it’s certainly exciting to finally get a glimpse of her character!
Giselle fans will be surprised to see Giselle looking so much more mature in this new Disney movie, and we’re sure there will be lots of other surprises in the movie! Disenchanted is scheduled to be released on Thanksgiving of 2022; it will be available on the streaming service Disney+!
