A trip to Disney World usually means flip-flops, sunshine, and an occasional afternoon rain shower. But guests this week are getting something very different — a cold snap strong enough to close a park.

The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for the area surrounding Walt Disney World. From early Tuesday morning through mid-morning, temperatures are expected to dip into the upper 30s with wind chills that feel closer to the 20s. That’s uncharted territory for many visitors who packed shorts and T-shirts for their vacation.
Water Parks Take the Biggest Hit
The sudden chill is forcing Disney to temporarily close Typhoon Lagoon, the resort’s tropical-themed water park. The closure is set for Tuesday, November 11, while its sister park, Blizzard Beach, remains shuttered for refurbishment. That means no water parks will be open this week — a rare occurrence for Walt Disney World.

Universal Orlando Resort has also closed Volcano Bay for the same reason, showing that the temperature drop is affecting the entire Central Florida theme park scene.
Parks Stay Open — But Guests Bundle Up
The main four parks — Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom — will stay open as usual, but guests should be prepared for chilly mornings and cold evening breezes. The good news is that most rides and shows will continue running without issue.

This weather twist has caused an unexpected shift in guest behavior. Long lines for hot chocolate and coffee have formed at various snack stands, and many are swapping their Mickey ears for beanies and scarves. Shops are seeing a rush of guests looking for cozy sweatshirts and blankets, which might be the most popular souvenirs of the day.
A Quick Return to Sunshine
Fortunately, this cold spell is short-lived. Temperatures are expected to climb back into the 70s later in the week, with the warm Florida sun returning in full force by the weekend.
While this might not be the typical Disney vacation forecast, it’s another reminder that the weather at The Most Magical Place on Earth can be as unpredictable as it is magical. For now, those headed to the parks should keep an eye on the forecast — and maybe pack that extra hoodie just in case.
