A New Chapter for Disney and Make-a-Wish Might Be On the Horizon

Disney Parks head Josh D’Amaro’s latest update might mean that Disney is going to be more supportive of Make-A-Wish visitors at the Parks.

The Walt Disney Company is in the business of making magic and making Disney fans’ and Guests’ dreams come true. The entertainment giant has been doing this for 100 years now and has gotten so good at it, it’s celebrating its centennial now. It stands to reason that a company in the business of fulfilling dreams would associate itself with other organizations working in similar veins.

In the most recent news, Josh D’Amaro, the Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, has now joined the national board of Make-A-Wish America, as announced after the national board meeting on February 3, 2023.

On becoming a board member, D’Amaro shared, “Both Disney and Make-A-Wish understand what a positive impact hope, imagination and happiness can have on the lives of seriously ill children,” said D’Amaro. “It’s an honor to represent the thousands of Disney cast members around the world who create magic and help make wishes come true every day for these amazing families.”

Scooter Braun, board member of HYBE America and founder of SB Projects, is also joining Mr. D’Amaro on the national board.

Disney has a long history of working with Make-A-Wish to bring allow many children the opportunity to live out a dream. In the words of the organization itself, they have been “creating magical wishes together since 1980,” so while this news concerns a particular Disney executive, it’s not so surprising conceptually.

Josh D’Amaro himself has been doing the rounds—perhaps mending fences and doing damage control after the uproar of last year?— speaking at conferences and doing interviews, he shared that the company is “obligated” to listen to fans and that Disney’s decisions are made with fan experience as the foremost priority.
