A father allegedly took matters into his own hands during a lifeguard rescue, endangering his child’s life at Walt Disney World Resort’s water park Blizzard Beach.

If guests can agree on one thing about the Disney Parks, it’s the rigorous training that all cast members have to undergo to be allowed to serve park visitors and park-goers. From their initiation through to when they’re assigned to various jobs in a Disney theme park, cast members have to work hard to make sure they know how to handle various situations that come up while at Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort.

Over the years, we’ve heard many stories of guest-cast member interactions. While many of them are genuinely wholesome, there have been a few instances of bad behavior towards guests from cast members and vice versa. What is often a more serious infraction, though, is when guests choose to disregard the rules at a Disney Park, thereby hindering cast members from doing their jobs.

Cast Member Shares Story of Father Who Interfered With Rescue Event in Blizzard Beach

Recently, fans were discussing the “most disturbing event” they’d ever seen at the Disney Parks when one former security cast member shared a story of how a guest once interfered with the cast member’s procedure when his daughter was drowning, endangering his child’s life.

The cast member explained, “I saved one guy personally because he saw his daughter fighting to stay afloat in the Fahrenheit Drop (the one with the zipline). He didn’t know it was 8 feet deep when he jumped in himself to save her. The lifeguard was already swimming over to save the girl, but now she had to save TWO people.”

This wasn’t all, as the cast member shared. The ex-cast member “leaned over the side and fished the little girl out while dad dropped to the bottom like a rock.”

Eventually, the Walt Disney World lifeguard reportedly ended up getting the dad out, and the commenter concluded that “Both [the dad and the daughter] walked away without saying “thank you” to neither me nor the LG that just saved their lives.”

Fans who responded to this ex-CM’s story all shared how they had also seen many rescues happen during their time at the Disney Parks, all noting how much more common a lifeguard rescue at Disney World is than one might think.

While Disney is a magical place indeed, as one guest pointed out, the mindset of “We’re at Disney, nothing bad can happen” is not necessarily the most helpful, as accidents can still occur.

Ultimately, the situation ended well, as both the father and the daughter were saved, but it’s always important to remember to pay heed to the cast members’ instructions while at a Disney Park.

While being at Disney is a magical enough experience that one might feel untouchable, sticking to the safety guidelines helps keep a Disney vacation as seamless as possible.
