Guest SLAMS Disney Park Experience: “Wasted Money,””Embarrassing,” and “Weak”

Another day, another unhappy Guest story. It seems Disney is not entirely out of the doghouse with Guests just yet, despite some recent changes.

The Walt Disney Company is celebrating its centennial this year, and it’s certainly an interesting time to hit this significant and notable milestone. Disney has seen much criticism in the last year before current Disney CEO Bob Iger returned to take the mantle from his (now) predecessor, former Disney CEO Bob Chapek. Chapek was notorious for being all about the numbers, so much so that he was given the nickname of Bob “Paycheck.”

But while Iger has already set about undoing some of the perceived damage from the last few years—leave alone the dissatisfaction on the part of Guests, Disney lost over $120 billion last year alone, despite the Disney Parks posting a profit during a challenging year. However, in the midst of this, Disney has introduced more complimentary services to assuage Guests worries and fears about the disappearance of the Disney magic, especially for the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebration. But, it appears fans are still noting issues with the Disney experience.

Disneyland Resort Guest and Reddit user u/Morphumax101 shared their experience, and it’s an unfortunate tale.

Been going to Disneyland and California adventure for YEARS and ended up being pretty bummed about my last trip.

The rides are in the worst state I have ever seen and it’s not even close. I have never experienced so many ride closures on a trip before.

Genie+, I’m sure it’s been beaten to death already but since I had so much experience with the parks pre genie+, this change really kills me.

The entertainment was very weak.

Prices have been going up and up and there is less and less “magic” in the park. It’s the first time I’ve ever felt like I wasted my money by going to Disneyland and as a long time park goer who has made countless family memories there, it really is heart breaking.

Some of these issues are well-known and documented, and others are ones that Disney and fans seem to clash about. For example, Disney constantly reinforces that they “believe” in their Genie product, the Disney Genie suite, complete with Lightning Lane, and the Individual Lightning Lane that exists separately from that.

But recently, we reported that the data shows Genie+ has actually made lines worse.

While it is important to note that this is one person’s account of what happened during their Park visit, it’s worth noting that these are issues that have long been reported. Here’s hoping that with Iger back in the driver’s seat, Disney will see huge improvements sooner rather than later.
