In a set of updates to the Theme Parks and attractions, Disney seems to have added security cameras to a classic ride.
Disney Parks routinely update and close their rides for refurbishment to achieve the proper upkeep of the attractions as necessary. Some of these rides often require more work than others: Pandora — World of Avatar being one example of this. Every Disney Park, whether Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World Resort, or Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure in the Disneyland Resort goes through this.
In the past few months, Disney has been reportedly working on and updating the DINOSAUR ride in Animal Kingdom Park. And per the latest update, Disney has been doing some peculiar things to the ride vehicles themselves.
Twitter user ParkTerror — @ParkTwister — took to the platform to share the news with the caption, “New rig added to each Time Rover vehicle on DINOSAUR, possibly utilizing a built-in security camera or detection system.”

It appears security cameras or some type of monitoring system were put in place via rig on each ride vehicle. While the purpose these devices serve isn’t clear, what appears to be certain is that the ride vehicles will look a little different now.
This is also not the only refurbishment happening with DINOSAUR. ParkTerror also shared photos of some external updates:

Fans on Twitter are puzzled by this latest development. @ParallelDisney commented on the original post stating they were “puzzled on [the cameras’] purpose.”
DINOSAUR is a scary thrill ride not for the faint of heart. Disney even has a warning on the website that says the ride “includes loud sounds in the dark and menacing dinosaurs that may scare some children.” Formerly known as Countdown to Extinction, the dark attraction was renamed in 2000 to help promote the Disney film of the same name.
Per the website,
A Race Against Time
A paleontologist recruits you for a secret mission to bring a 3.5-ton Iguanadon back to the present. There’s just one problem—the giant meteor that wiped out life on Earth is on the way!
Board a rugged Time Rover vehicle and set off on a thrilling adventure through a primeval forest filled with life-like dinosaurs. Careen through unpredictable hairpin turns. Dart around a fearsome Velociraptor hunting for prey. Avoid the clutches of a Cearadactylus soaring overhead!
As the clock counts down, fiery meteors crash down around you. Will you make your escape before the dinosaurs—and you—become extinct?
Hopefully, the Disney Theme Park will release more information that explains these updates soon.
