Are ‘Eternals’ Co-Stars Gemma Chan and Richard Madden A Real Couple?

When two actors play a romantic couple in a blockbuster film, it’s typical for their fans to start wondering if the actors are really dating — particularly if the chemistry between them seems genuine onscreen. One couple that’s starting to get lots of attention is Gemma Chan and Richard Madden, who played the immortal lovers Sersi and Ikaris in the new Marvel movie ‘Eternals’. As it happens, Gemma and Richard have been close friends for over a decade, even before ‘Eternals’! Gemma told British Vogue that their romance in this new Marvel movie “was a fun thing to play…The good thing is, Richard and I have known each other for over 10 years.”

Gemma Chan has reportedly been dating actor Dominic Cooper since 2018 (and had been engaged to Jack Whitehall from ‘The Jungle Cruise’ before that), but celebrities are known for keeping their romantic lives private or for staging relationships when necessary. If Gemma and Richard are indeed dating, this would be upsetting news to many Disney fans, since Richard’s incredible chemistry with ‘Cinderella‘ co-star Lily James made many people believe that he and Lily were going to become a real couple (those rumors were strengthened by the fact that Richard said “we’re really good friends. I still see her like on a weekly basis,” and both actors have ended their previous relationships). Richard Madden and Lily James also played Romeo and Juliet together in a stage production soon after ‘Cinderella’. However, Gemma Chan is also a popular actress among Marvel fans; time will tell if she’s dating Richard instead of Dominic Cooper or if they are indeed just good friends! Interestingly enough, Gemma is also good friends with Lily James, since they had worked together years ago on The Secret Diary of A Call Girl. “It’s quite a small world, the British acting community, and when you’ve been doing it for as long as I have, I think you meet pretty much everybody,” Gemma remarked in her British Vogue interview.

Regardless of Gemma and Richard’s relationship (platonic or otherwise), the fact remains that both their chemistry onscreen and the behind-the-scenes pictures Gemma just shared from ‘Eternals’ have further fueled the rumors about the A-list couple.
