American Disney Guests Have “Lots To Learn” From Their International Counterparts

Disney Guests seem to have hit their limit with the behavior of fellow Guests at the Disney Parks, with some particularly calling out American Guests.

The Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort are some of the best places in the world for a Disney vacation. In fact, any Disney Park, whether it’s a Theme Park like Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World and Disney California Adventure Park or Disneyland Park in Disneyland Resort, is a wonderful place to live the Disney experience.

But the Disney Parks aren’t always places of magic and wonder. There has been an uptick in the reporting of bad behavior from Guests at the Parks,  and many Disney Guests are slowly reaching their limit in what they are willing to put up with. Some have gone so far as to say Guest behavior is the reason Disney magic is gone. (Although, many are hopeful it will return with the recent news that has swept the Disney community.)

One Guest, in particular, u/Sugarmugr, took to the social media platform Reddit to share their thoughts. They opened the discussion with a simple statement: “Guest behavior at an all time low.”

While the comments were filled with various examples of Guest behavior, including some unfortunate accounts, some fans chose to call out American Guests in particular. U/shocktroop5811 mentioned, “Americans’ behavior. I have lived in Japan for a very long time and although the Japanese are not perfect, Americans in general make the Japanese look like saints.”

The Guest continued,

Having lived in Japan for many years I can honestly say that Americans in general can lead a lot from the Japanese. You can sum it up in three words: Mindfulness of others. When you cultivate a society where people put others first modern miracles happen and life is better…for everyone. I am glad you can see it and I wish more people could have that opportunity. Their culture and way of life has made me a better person.

While many Guests challenged the commenter, they mentioned, “I have never seen behavior anything like what goes on every day in Disneyland at the Tokyo parks. I also have many friends who are cast members who work for Tokyo Disneyland /Sea and the JLC and they have even noticed the unacceptable behavior in Disneyland. One of my friends is an Imagineer there and travels back and fourth a couple times a year.”

It’s important to note this is the experience of one Disney Guest and may not reflect views across the board.
