Cast Members Comfort Guests During Severe Ride Malfunction

At any theme park, ride or roller coaster malfunctions and breakdowns are an inevitability. However, Walt Disney World Resort and its West Coast counterpart, Disneyland Resort, seem to be facing an abnormally large number of ride breakdowns in recent months – so much so that Disney Guests have actually started to allow for ride breakdowns as part of their scheduled Disney vacation days!

Now, yet another beloved Disney ride has met its demise for at least one night — but some Guests actually found the experience to be beneficial, since Cast Members treated them to a special bonus as a way to compensate for the inconvenience!

According to a Walt Disney World Resort Guest and a passenger on the Magic Kingdom ride, Haunted Mansion experienced such a severe malfunction yesterday that Cast Members actually had to manually override each individual Doom Buggy to release passengers before guiding them out of the ride building at a walking pace.

“Got stuck on Haunted Mansion last night”, the Reddit user wrote in the post shown below. “Cast members had to unlock every doom buggy and walk us out.”

Some Disney Guests who travel to Disney World on a time crunch will always dread any form of ride breakdown or malfunction — especially since a day in Disney World is only getting more and more expensive — but some hardcore Disney Guests enjoy the chance to see Disney rides from different angles, or to get some glimpses of the machinations that go on behind the scenes!

The passengers of the Haunted Mansion Doom Buggies on this occasion were reportedly particularly happy, since they were also able to take advantage of a complimentary Individual Lightning Lane pass (which some might compare to gold dust, depending on how well planning their Disney vacations has been going).

Other Guests from the same night shared their own take on the experience, with one Magic Kingdom Guest declaring that the estimated 40-minute wait time on the ride was “a parks fan rite of passage”.

Ride breakdowns might be more and more common in the Disney Parks these days — especially on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, apparently — but if free Individual Lightning Lane passes are up for grabs, then who knows? Disney fans might start trying to cause malfunctions deliberately!
