Pisces

Creative Pisces, Maria Lea Carmen Imutan Salonga, is a Tony-Award Winning Filipino actress. She provided the singing voices of not one but two official Disney Princesses: Jasmine in Aladdin (1992) and Fa Mulan in Mulan (1998). Her two famous Disney heroines both go through trans-formative adventures that are highly romantic in nature, very Piscean. She was named an official Disney Legend in 2011. The bold and beautiful Amanda Leigh Moore is a recording artist, Golden Globe and Emmy nominated Actress, and Screen Actors Guild Award Winner. She played the pivotal role of mean-girl cheerleader Lana Thomas in 2001’s The Princess Diaries, voiced character Aerith in 2002’s Kingdom Hearts game, and brought Disney Princess Rapunzel to life in 2011’s Tangled and its sequel series from 2017-2020.

As both an ambitious lead cheerleader and a young girl leaving her tower searching for adventure, Mandy definitely exudes Aries vibes in her roles. A 3-time Tony award winner and Gemini baby, Idina Menzel is a star of both stage and screen. She appeared as an animated Disney heroine in Enchanted when her character Nancy left her life in New York to find her “Ever After.” But she is, of course, most famous for her role as Elsa in Disney’s Frozen franchise. As Gemini is represented by the symbol of the twins, it is fitting that she is the lead of the sister-driven story. She most recently wrote a Children’s book for Disney-Hyperion Books.

Practical Virgo Anika Noni Rose is an African-American actress and singer best known in Disney circles for voicing Princess Tiana in Disney’s The Princess and the Frog. There is perhaps no princess more hard-working and talented than Tiana. In 2011, she appeared at the Disney Legends ceremony held at the D23 Expo, where she joined Paige O’Hara (voice of Belle), Lea Salonga (voice of Mulan), and Jodi Benson (voice of Ariel) to perform after accepting their respective awards. Tiana can also be seen with her fellow Disney Princesses in 2018’s Ralph Breaks the Internet. Anika Noni Rose was most recently seen in Netflix’s 2021 limited series Maid.

Libra

She played the titular role in 1964’s Mary Poppins, as well as Queen Clarisse Renaldi of Genovia in Disney’s The Princess Diaries and its 2004 sequel. A diplomat in her own way on and off screen, Andrews helped open Walt Disney World in Orlando and hosted the official televised grand opening ceremony, which aired on NBC on October 29, 1971. Andrews can currently be seen (or rather heard) as Lady Whistledown in the Netflix period drama series Bridgerton, the second season of which is set to premiere on March 25.

Scorpio

Independent and intellectual are the traits that describe both Disney heroines that Susan Egan has portrayed: Bookish Belle in the Original Broadway production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and maverick Megara from Disney’s Hercules. Egan was one of the founding members of the popular show “Broadway Princess Party.” The initial show–an intimate piano bar setting showcasing voices of Disney Princesses from film and on Broadway–was a huge success as performances from the show went viral on YouTube, eventually leading to a national tour.

In its almost 100 year history, Disney presented scores of ambitious, intelligent, adventurous, passionate, sensitive, creative, and hard-working real-life women in their movies. From Adriana Caselotti (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) to Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto) and Rosalie Chiang (Turning Red)–the list goes on and on.
