As Christmas approaches, the line between people who love Christmas and people who just mildly enjoy Christmas gets noticeably wider. Popsugar recently asked several Disney-affiliated celebrities about their holiday habits, and a surprising amount of them planned to go heavy on the holiday décor! Vanessa Hudgens, Rachel Zegler, and Kathy Najimy were all happy to talk about their plans for the holidays, as were many other celebrities like Lily Collins!
Most people won’t be surprised that High School Musical alum Vanessa Hudgens is fond of Christmas decorations, since the actress and singer has starred in several Christmas movies, and Vanessa confirmed that she is a “big decorator”. Her main holiday colors are “red or green or gold or white”, understandably, and the actress is very excited to decorate this year in particular. “I haven’t decorated for the holidays in like three years because I’ve been working,” she told Popsugar, “so [you’d] best believe it’s gonna look like Christmas threw up in my house”!
After seeing Vanessa’s house in warm weather, we’d love to see what it looks like for Christmas—and to find out how exactly she’s planning on adding Christmas décor to her iconic cave bathroom! As for taking the decorations down, that’s a whole other story. “I like taking them down after New Year’s,” Vanessa said. “I try to get them down but they end up staying a bit longer than they should”.
Rachel Zegler, who is about to become a household name for her role in the new adaptation of West Side Story (2021) and who will soon become well-known in Disney circles as the live-action Snow White, is apparently a “huge decorator”. “I’m a crazy person; the day after Halloween, my Christmas stuff starts going up,” she admitted. “I start sneaking things around the house.” Kathy Najimy, the actress who many Disney fanatics will recognize from Hocus Pocus (1993) and its new sequel, is also apparently “a huge decorator”. “I have boxes in the basement and I have boxes in storage,” she told Popsugar. “I love tacky, big, huge Christmas everything.”
Sadly, none of the celebrities in the Popsugar interview (shown above) mentioned going to Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland to celebrate the holidays at the Disney Parks. Still, perhaps some of them have seen the Candlelight Processional, tried some official Holiday Kitchen treats during EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays in the World Showcase, or said hi to Santa Claus at Walt Disney World in the past! Auli’i Cravalho from Moana (2016) wasn’t part of Popsugar’s interview about holiday decorations, but she did recently narrate the Candlelight Processional while wearing an impressive level of finery, so we’re guessing that she doesn’t mind glitzy holiday decorations either!
Are you an enthusiastic decorator for the holidays, or do you keep your Christmas decor minimal? Do you like to create an elaborate aesthetic for your Christmas tree, cook special food in your own version of EPCOT’s Holiday Kitchens, or attend events like Disney’s Candlelight Processional? And do you tend to take down your holiday decorations immediately after Christmas Day (or after your holiday celebrations are over if you celebrate a different holiday) or do you find yourself procrastinating when it comes to removing them?
