Serena Williams might have questionable taste when it comes to Disney villain baby names, but the retired professional tennis player and iconic athlete does apparently have good taste when it comes to the Disney fans that she welcomes into her life!
The celebrity’s husband, Alexis Ohanian, was spotted at a showing of the brand-new Little Mermaid movie with the couple’s daughter Olympia (the couple is expecting their second child at the moment, and Serena Williams is indeed debating some surprising Disney baby names).

The internet entrepreneur and investor, who is best known for creating and selling Reddit (and who married Serena Williams in a lavish Beauty and the Beast-inspired wedding), shared his own thoughts on the controversial new live-action Little Mermaid remake after seeing the movie with his young daughter.
Singer and actress Halle Bailey received plenty of love during the new movie’s premiere (which was particularly appropriate since the actress had been viciously attacked online by racist movie viewers when she was cast in the role of Ariel), and apparently, the ‘Williams family’ has joined that camp!
“Update: it was FANTASTIC. Great CG, too,” Ohanian declared in the Tweet shown below after finishing the new Disney movie. Ohanian also added that Halle Bailey absolutely “crushed it,” despite the naysayers.

Hearing Ohanian’s praise for the movie’s CGI effects is particularly noteworthy, since some audience members and movie critics have complained about the movie being too dark overall (like the new Peter Pan film, which has been contending with the same issue ever since its premiere two weeks ago on Disney+).
The husband of the famously-enthusiastic Disney fan Serena Williams also wrote about Ariel’s new updates in the Tweet shown below.

“The ‘new’ Ariel doesn’t erase the ‘old’ Ariel – instead, it gives us an opportunity to appreciate the story from different angles; and I saw how THRILLED Jr. was to see herself as that iconic character,” Ohanian said, referring to Olympia.
“They also added some good depth to Prince Eric,” the celebrity added. Perhaps that new “depth” is the four-dimensional kind that was mentioned before the movie’s premiere?

When asked if Olympia was already asking about seeing the new Little Mermaid again, Ohanian confirmed that she was with a capitalized “YES”!
Are you going to see the new Little Mermaid movie in theaters? Have you been looking forward to this Disney film, or are you tired of Disney’s remakes?
