Any Marvel fan or Disney fan who has been following English actress Gemma Chan during the press tour for Marvel Studios’ Eternals (2021) will not be surprised to learn that the actress has been impressing people with her style acumen and her red carpet choices. Whether she’s been wearing a floaty and feathered Louis Vuitton gown, a shimmering Disney villain cape, a Sohee Park headdress, or a unique purple knit dress, Gemma and her stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray (who also works with Lily James) have consistently been creating stylish looks for the Eternals red carpets. Now Gemma has officially been honored by Vogue as one of Vogue’s 12 Best-Dressed Women of 2021!

One thing that Gemma Chan and many other actors or actresses (such as Elle Fanning) have in common is their tendency to represent their movie characters during said movie’s press junket. Gemma Chan’s character in the new Marvel movie Eternals is Sersi, a Celestial whose love for humanity and gentle strength makes her stand out among a cast with warriors like Richard Madden‘s Ikaris and Angelina Jolie’s Thena. For most of her outfits on the press tour, Gemma has gone with soft, elegant, feminine dresses and outfits that seem to suit her character Sersi’s personality and ethos in Eternals. Angelina Jolie has done the same, with shimmery metallics that would suit her character Thena!

As Vogue put it, “Gemma Chan and her stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray are always on a mission to score personal bests in the style stakes, and this year they really hit a home run. Staying true to Chan’s mission to put the work of Asian talent on the world’s stage, the pair teamed up with Nepalese-American designer Prabal Gurung on a Met Gala dress that paid homage to Hollywood’s first Chinese-American star, Anna May Wong. From one trailblazer to another, rising South Korean couturier Sohee Park created Chan a dazzling Eternals world premiere look that kicked butt, and made the Marvel universe seem socially-aware for everyone watching.”

Even when she’s not on a press tour, Gemma Chan has impressed onlookers. Her dresses for events like the Met Gala or the Golden Globe red carpet and her choice of designers (typically Prabal Gurung, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Stella Mccartney, Michael Kors, or unknown brands like Sohee Park’s Miss Sohee) have consistently made her one of the best dressed stars. Since Marvel fans have been following Gemma’s style evolution and praising her beauty during the Eternals press tour, it’s no surprise that an established influence in the fashion industry like Vogue would pay attention, too! Zendaya and Angelina Jolie were both honored on Vogue’s Best-Dressed Women of 2021 list as well. Were you familiar with Gemma Chan before her role as Sersi in Eternals? Had you seen her as Astrid in Crazy Rich Asians?
