Meteorologists are expecting a currently-unnamed and unformed storm will evolve into a hurricane and enter the Gulf of Mexico by early next week, possibly putting Florida in its sights.

According to WESH2 Meteorologist Eric Burris, “Both the GFS and the Euro models bring a hurricane into the Gulf; Exact paths will be working out run to run over the next few days- but we’ll for sure need to be watching things!”

If the storm, currently identified as Invest98, intensifies, it will become known as Tropical Storm Hermine. It is currently sitting just above Venezuela, and extended spaghetti models are showing that it could have an effect on The Sunshine State sometime in the middle or latter end of next week. However, it should be noted that there are still a lot of unknowns, including how much more this tropical depression is actually going to develop.

Hurricanes are common occurrences of rain and wind this time of year in Florida. The Walt Disney World Resort is built to weather any level of storm, and its Cast Members are more than ready to take care of any Guests that may find themselves stuck in their Resort hotels during this time.

It is also unclear how this storm will affect Disney Cruise Line adventures sailing out of Port Canaveral and Miami. We at Disney Fanatic recently shared that Hurricane Fiona had caused an Eastern Caribbean cruise to change into a Western Caribbean Cruise last minute.

We at Disney Fanatic will continue to stay up-to-date with the storm and how it can or will affect Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line vacations as more developments come in over the coming days. Would-be Guests and Passengers should also keep an eye on their emails for any updates concerning their specific trips.
